Storylearning - intuitive, visual, heuristic tools for
unstructured data, based on the djotjog principle
What does djotjog mean?
The Javanese word djotjog describes a kind
of community storytelling whereby the truth is in the parts
that everyone shares....

It refers to a state
of being where the "parts" affirm, define, and validate the
"whole". In the context of storytelling, djotjog is not two
people saying the same thing; rather, it is many people telling
slightly different stories that reinforce some common theme
among all of them. Even if it is not conscious in the minds of
the individual storytellers, this emergent theme will resonate
with most of them when presented back to them. To
djotjog is to harmonize emergent themes using
our shared experiences.
As a computational goal, djotjog tools enable numbers and
stories to send a clear signal from citizens to actors and
decision-makers in the world of non-profit "development"
organizations. Here you will find computer algorithms based on
heuristics (meaning they organize information by looking at the
natural order of things). Language is a form of rich,
structured information. Ideas have a natural connectivity that
we often ignore when we try to organize them into our arbitrary
frameworks.
