There are several religions in mathare but two are most distict The most known relegion are christianity or islam. most people in mathare are either christian or muslims but christianity has a larger following than all the other relligions. This is evident by the number of churches that are built within mathare and even the lifestyle of most people in mathare. Religion plays on a major role in moulding mathare because for instance christians organise youth groups to participate in either football teams or even clean up Sessions within the slum area. They also organise and start business projects within their groups.

q2:As a son of the chairperson of Mayungu area self help group.It is my joy to enumerate benefits that i have seen emerge from this group. I could have dropped out of school as my father literally failed to supply to all the needs of the family and to educate me and my siblings.It was only when this group came into force in 2007 that through their financial boosting,lifted him to start a business of bicycle repair.From this business and bodaboda operation one which has engaged the youth we have seen change. The group is established and loans members up to 20,000 shillings to help them stabilize themselves.My father has done so to a successful extend.
