q2:I attended Malindi Cultural festival this Easter weekend which was hosted by the National Museums of Kenya. It attracted both local and international tourists. Apart from being a tourist attraction, the home grown initiative is an important tool for national cohesion because unlike other festivals, there was showcases of other cultures like that of the Luo, Pokomo, Kamba, Waata, Taita, Mijikenda and Orma who also live in the town. This really encouraged people in the area especially after the 2007/08 post election violence and helps heal the wounds.

q2: In December 2007 and early 2008 when tribal clashes rocked Kenya following the post Election Violence, there rose tension in my estate in BUSIA, as the state of insecurity rose.No one dared move out the house. Everyone was wacthing the events from the television. In my estate a concern rose among the village elders, sbchief and the chief on how to mantain peace, harmony among the Kikuyu, Luhya, Luo and other tribals and this was just the correct thing to do at the time. The tension cooled down and the strange feeling of hatred and discrimination was not that much as all the people embraced and regarded one another as a brother and sister. From that step there still prevails the love, peace and harmony in the estate irrespective of their tribes.
