q2:During early 1970s,there there was no hospital or clinic in my community.i remember during those days people used herbs for treatment and others could go as far as kisumu or kakamega in order to access medical treatment.as a result most people lost their lives and others had to spend a lot of money in travelling to and fro to these major towns in order to access the health care.
this became a problem for a very long period of time until 1980s.Egesa the owner of the hospital constructed Egesa Hospital and came operational in mid 1980s.Egesa the owner had a degree in medicine from university of Newyork and through the sponsorship of some organisation abroad he had constructed the hospital just within the community and now was treating the community members.the trouble some days of travelling long distances to access medical care came to an end and since then death rates also reduced significantly Q3:EGESA HOSPITAL Q4:INDIVIDUAL Q5:access medical, health care, medical care, hospital, treatment Q6:KENYA Q7:BUSIA Q8:BULANDA Q9:More than 2 years ago Q10:Female Q12:Saw it happen Q13:The right people Q15:Yes Q17:[HORIZON]INCOMPLETE-QUESTION 9 INCOMPLTE<<2011-07-06-BUSIA-S#112-P#01>>_ Q18:Important Q19:Knowledge,Creativity,Self-esteem Q37:Good idea that succeeded Q38:Specific problem Q39:Physical well-being Q40:Mixed Q122:46-60 Q132:-1.31201900000000 Q133:36.77454400000000 Q134:Individual

q2:Medication is very essential and should be a right to each and evryone. In Mathare, it is unfortunate that there are no specified government hospitals. The residents are forced to go to the private owned clinics which charge very expensively and therefore is always a burden to the average resident of Mathare slums.
It is fro lack of hospitals that most people especially the children from the slums could just be cured from simple illnesses. Some NGOs are trying to curb the medication problem by providing health r medical services in partnership with the churches around.
These organisations work through schools and homes but more support still needs to be done. q2:The general health of the people are in danger considering their life situation. There are no government hospitals and when someone falls sick he or she is forced to go to the few available non government and private clinics which are realy expensive.
Some people tend to ignore even if they are sick due to lack of money to pay for as medical bill.
Youths and children are the most affected people in this society-slum.Parents sometimes ignored illness hoping that they could just get well even without being taken to the hospital and get medication.
The churches and organizations have chiped in to lend hand in support to improve the life of the people in Kibera-slum. Q3:HEALTH Q4:International Medical Corps
